Domina Home Royal Positano Review
The Domina Home Royal hotel in Positano is a larger hotel situated up at the top of the hill near the main road going through Positano. Because of this, you can find some beautiful views – but it’s also quite a walk down to the town and the beach.
In fact, it’s about 500 steps down to the main part of town, shopping, restaurants, etc – and then another walk down to the beach from there.
The 66 air-conditioned guestrooms at Domina Home Royal include minibars and safes. The rooms themselves are a bit small and need some updating – as does the hotel in general. It’s a bit confusing to find your way around and some areas are not overly well-lit.
One of the best things about this hotel is the large pool area and tennis court – which makes it popular with kids and families. However be aware that the pool closes early (around 6:00).
And for some reason there are rules for the pool area. You have to wear bathing caps to go in and you can only enter from one area instead of just sliding in from where you’re lounging – which seems a bit strange.
There is no Wifi in the rooms – but free wifi in the common areas. However be aware that all of the wifi areas are in different hotspots so you need a different password every time you login to use the Internet – which can be a hassle.
There is an internal bus stop right outside the hotel that runs about every 30 minutes. So if you don’t want to walk all the way down to the town or beach, this is your best option. (You can also take a cab for about 20 Euro).
There are laundry facilities at this hotel and onsite parking is offered (for a surcharge).
The hotel includes a free buffet breakfast with your stay. There is a restaurant and bar however you can also walk to several different restaurants in the area as well.
On the plus side this hotel tends to be one of the more affordable 4 star hotels in Positano – and good for families with kids who want a large pool area. But be aware this is not a “luxury” hotel – more of a family-friendly, economical option with some great perks.
