Hotel Covo Dei Saraceni Positano Review:
The Covo Dei Saraceni is one of my favorite Positano hotels: from it’s impressive, romantic exterior right on the beach of Positano – to the rooms which all have wide sweeping views of the beach and Mediterranean – to the best pool in Positano. It’s the ideal honeymoon destination or luxury-hotel vacation “splurge”.
This hotel is also great if you have an issue with walking a lot of stairs – as Positano can be a challenge due to all of the stairs you have to walk to get up to the main road or the higher-situated hotels.
But from the Hotel Covo Dei Saraceni you can easily walk to the beaches (the Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo), the pedestrian shopping area, the Church of Santa Maria or restaurants without having to walk up a lot of stairs.
The hotel is also only a few steps away from the ferry services to Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi and Ischia. So it’s the perfect location to do the entire Amalfi coast by boat if you choose (without climbing stairs for miles or taking hot, overcrowded buses to the different towns.)
You can also easily find other boat tours from here as well including ones that will take you to the Green Grotto.
Rooms at the Covo Dei Saraceni:
There are approximately 60 rooms in the hotel – from huge luxury suites to standard double-bed rooms. But they all have sea views of the ocean and the town (you don’t have to pay extra to get the “sea view” option).
And they’re also fairly spacious for Positano (or Europe in general),
The Covo Dei Saraceni also has it’s own pool and sundeck up on the 5th floor which lets you kick back and enjoy the views from a more secluded, private area (if you don’t want to visit the beach).
You can simply spend a quiet day enjoying a drink in the infinity pool and gazing out onto the Mediterranean.
This hotel is also the only hotel on the main beach with its own pool and sundeck. So you can easily get away from the beach and the town if it suddenly becomes overrun with tourists or holiday beach-lovers (which can happen on Italian holidays or during peak cruise season).
This hotel is also a popular choice for weddings and/or honeymooners. There’s a concierge service that can help you with wedding arrangements or help you to arrange boat or private tours of the Amalfi coast.
They can also arrange a shuttle from the Naples international airport upon request (for an extra fee). So you basically don’t have to worry about anything.
A gourmet Italian breakfast buffet is included with your hotel stay when you book through this link. Breakfast includes things like fresh fruit, smoked salmon, croissants, breads, eggs, bacon and more – all while overlooking the beach. It’s a lovely way to wake up and start your day and service is quite good.
Are there any downsides? Well, if you’re going to be doing a lot of bus trips or visiting the other towns by car, then you’ll have to be walking up a lot of stairs to the main road each time – which can be a bit of a hike.
But if you’re looking for a 5 star hotel right on the beach of Positano (with one the best pool decks in all of Positano) this is the hotel for you.
