Hotel Royal Prisco Review – What You Need to Know:
The Hotel Royal Prisco is a charming 13 room hotel arranged over 3 floors. It’s situated about halfway up the main road of Positano – and about 100 meters to the city center.
So it’s in an ideal location – not too far from the beach (about a 5 minute walk) but high enough that you get some fantastic views of Positano. It’s an easy walk home after dining out from virtually anywhere.
There’s no parking at the hotel – but there is offsite discount parking down the street so it’s still fairly convenient if you’re driving.
As is standard with most Positano hotels, you do get a buffet breakfast included in your stay which includes both hot and cold items (eggs, fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc.)
The breakfast room does not have a view of Positano (as some of the hotel pictures would present). However you can request to have breakfast in your room – and then enjoy the view from your balcony.
Rooms are elegant in design and style, clean and spacious as well. However there is one thing to be aware of. Not all of them have balconies or even windows.
Booking Tip: When booking this hotel, make sure you choose a room that specifically states you get a view, balcony or that you’re getting a suite. The “budget” or “economy” rooms do not have views. So it can be a big surprise to get there and find out you have no view (because that’s the beauty of staying in Positano – a room with a view to die for!)
Also, there is no elevator in this hotel – however the staff can take your bags to your room for you. And with only 3 floors, most people can handle it fairly well.
There’s a small restaurant on site – but you’re also within easy walking distance to some of the most popular Positano restaurants. The hotel staff can give you several restaurant recommendations as well.
There’s also a café next door with healthy breakfast and lunch fare that is reasonably priced.
The hotel staff can arrange for an airport or train station transfer for you (for an extra fee) and you can also rent scooters, boats and cars from the hotel (for an extra fee.)
If you’re looking to stay within easy walking distance of both the beach and upper Positano, the Hotel Royal Prisco is ideal. I found this hotel very elegant in style – clean and charming.
I was actually surprised it was a 3 star – I would have expected it to rate 4 stars pretty easily. Probably the main issue are the rooms without views or the lack of elevator. But overall it’s a fantastic family-owned boutique hotel in the heart of Positano.
