Il San Pietro Di Positano Hotel Review:
If you’re looking for a private, luxury “experience” in Positano, you may want to consider the famous Il San Pietro Di Positano – an ultra-exclusive hotel built on the cliffs just outside of Positano.
Originally built by Carline Cinque who commissioned a mega-luxury villa just outside of the main Positano town with breathtaking views, the hotel is still owned and run by the Cinque family today.
The hotel is built literally into the cliffs and gives you incredible views of both Positano on one side and Praiano on the other. Each room has a private terrace with jaw-dropping views – some of Positano town but many more of Praiano and the coast.
Each room is unique with it’s own color scheme, design and furniture. Rooms offer free Wifi, safe, minibar, satellite TV with Pay-per-view and Jacuzzi. Some rooms even have floor-to-ceiling windows in the bathroom, which is another unique touch you don’t often find (and makes for a very pampering bath-experience!)
Room Tip: Request a corner room if you can as they have wrap-around balconies!
The Il San Pietro Di Positano hotel has it’s own private beach which you can reach via an elevator that takes you down the cliffs from the main hotel. You can also walk down the stairs and enjoy the vegetables gardens and view along the way.
And you don’t even have to go back up to the hotel for lunch as there’s a small restaurant down on the beach (which serves lunch only – no breakfast or dinner).
There is also a sizeable exercise room and spa at this hotel which includes a variety of treatments and massages as well as a Turkish bath and Finnish Shower. And from the pool area you can enjoy spectacular views of Praiano and the coast.
Vacation Tip: In the summer, the hotel often organizes a complimentary boat trip along the Amalfi coast for their guests – which is a fantastic way to see the Amalfi coast by water!
There are two restaurants on site – including a Michelin star restaurant which also uses a lot of it’s own organic vegetables from the gardens on site.
If you want to explore Positano, they have a 24-hour shuttle that usually runs every 10 – 15 minutes to and from the town. You can also take a water taxi from the private beach area if you want to go directly to the main beach of Positano.
A bountiful buffet breakfast is included in your stay featuring eggs, prosciutto, smoked salmon, fruit, pastries and more. It’s served in the dining room overlooking the Mediterranean – but you can also request to have it in your room on your terrace.
Another great thing about this hotel you don’t usually find in Positano is that parking is on site and is included (as of this writing). So if you’re driving the Amalfi coast, this is a great place to enjoy luxury accommodations for a few days before continuing on with your trip.
There are a few things you should be aware of with this hotel. First, the free wifi is not available on the beach or in the spa.
Also, this property closes down during the year from November to March. So you can only book it from about mid-April to October.
If you’re looking for luxury, privacy and a celebrity-type experience, you really can’t go wrong with the Il San Pietro Di Positano. It’s simply one of the most beautiful hotels on the Amalfi coast built right into the cliffs. However it does fill up very quickly – some rooms book up to two years in advance!
If you’re looking to stay in the heart of Positano town, this may not be your hotel. But if you want romance, elegance and 5-star treatment, this hotel will be something you’ll remember for years to come!
