Hotel Buca Di Bacco Positano Review:
Hotel Bucca Di Bacco is one of the most popular luxury Positano hotels right on the beach – steps from the main beach (Spaggia Grande), restaurants, ferry boats and shops. You’re also close to the famous Church of Santa Maria Assunta and Fornillo beach as well.
It’s one of the larger hotels in Positano with 47 air-conditioned guestrooms – most of which have beautiful sea/beach views.
At an extra fee the concierge can arrange a train station pickup for you or a shuttle around town. Something many people don’t realize is that there is also a scooter/moped rental on site – so if you’re feeling adventurous and don’t want to climb all the stairs around Positano, this is a great way to see the town.
Another fun thing to do at this hotel is take the cooking class (which also includes generous amounts of wine) and learn how to make your own authentic Italian pasta.
There’s also a laundry service/dry cleaning which is important since, surprisingly, there are a lot of hotels in Positano that don’t offer a laundry service (you can walk uphill to a do-it-yourself Laundromat, which many people don’t want to do on vacation).
There is no pool at this hotel – which may or may not matter to you since the beach is literally only steps away.
You do get a beautiful buffet breakfast each morning included with your stay including a selection of pastries, cakes, cereals and fruits. Eggs, bacon and sausages also available as well as fresh-squeezed orange juice, coffee and tea.
One of the things I love about this hotel is the restaurant out front by the beach. This is the absolute perfect spot to sit back, have a cappuccino and people watch.
Because of it’s central location, you can see everything – from the beach to the ferry services to the start of the shopping area – definitely worth at least an hour or two of your time to sit back and take it all in!
There are only 2 slight drawbacks to this hotel. First of all, while most hotel rooms in Positano have ocean/town views – not all rooms at the Buca Di Bacco have ocean views.
But they are very clear when you book what kind of room you’re getting. It will say either “sea view” or “non-sea view” when you go to book a room so there’s no confusion. The non-sea view rooms are cheaper obviously but many people can’t imagine staying in Positano without that heavenly view!
The second thing you should be aware of is that the hotel is not reachable by car since it’s in a pedestrian zone. So if you’re coming from the road (via taxi or private car), you’ll have to carry your bags down a few flights of stairs to get to the hotel.
You can call ahead to the hotel and have a porter service meet you to take your bags from the road (for a few Euros – highly recommended). But if you are coming from the dock/ferry port – you shouldn’t need to use this service.
If you’re looking for a luxury hotel right on the beach with stunning views, incredible food and bragging rights (“I stayed at the Buca Di Bacco”), this is the place to be.
