Hotel Poseidon Review:
Choosing where to stay in Positano can be a tough call. You want to be close to the beach – but you also want to enjoy the fantastic views and shopping which is found higher up the hill. So what do you do?

You stay at the Hotel Poseidon Positano of course!
This 4 star boutique hotel is in a strategically “perfect” location. It’s high enough up to give you the stunning views of Positano and the bay. But it’s not too high that you’re walking forever to get back from the beach at the end of the day.
In fact, it will take you about 8 minutes to walk down to the beach (depending on whether you walk the road or take the stair shortcuts). And maybe a bit longer (10-15) minutes to walk up to the hotel from the beach or ferry boats.

Plus it’s high enough that you get to enjoy shopping and restaurants in the main town and pedestrian area of Positano.
The hotel has a restaurant but you’re also within easy walking distance to several highly rated restaurants as well like Ristorante da Vincenzo or Café Positano (which is also great for an iced coffee or ice cream break on a hot day).
Also, particularly handy is the grocery and sandwich shop right out front of the hotel – great for snacks (including gluten-free fare) or cheap on-the-go food.
This is particularly handy because Positano is such an uphill walking town that to have a grocery shop this close to you without having to walk up 50 – 100 stairs is a benefit that you don’t get with a lot of other hotels.

The hotel itself has been family owned and run since the 1950s. The rooms are simple and charming, offering what they call “side views” of Positano.
But don’t think that these are poor views – they’re actually the most desirable because they give you a full frontal view of the stunning town of Positano itself. So you’re not just staring straight out into the water.

You’ll also enjoy a fresh buffet breakfast every morning on the terrace (included free with your booking here) with sumptuous views of the town and water.
I’ve found the staff at this hotel some of the friendliest in Positano. They can help you arrange shuttle transports from the airport, boat tours and shopping excursions. They can also give you recommendations on restaurants and the best gelato places in town!

The Hotel Poseidon also has one of the nicest pools and largest sundecks in Positano as well. Kick back and relax with a cool drink while enjoying some of the most beautiful views of the Amalfi coast.
Plus there are more than enough lounge chairs to accommodate everyone on the sundeck – which can be a problem at other hotel pools in the area.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for one of the best locations and fantastic views from every room, you may want to consider the Poseidon Hotel Positano. It’s close enough to the beach and ferries to tour the Amalfi coast by water. But it’s also close to the road and transit if you want to visit other towns by car or bus.
Plus you’re a very short walk away from the main shopping area and a grocery store to pick up little extras you’ll need. And it’s one of the few hotels in Positano with a pool!
